Honda Civic Service Manual: Ball Joint Boot Inspection

1. Vehicle Lift

Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.


2. Front Wheel

Remove the front wheel.


1. Ball Joint Boot - Inspection

Check the ball joint boot for weakness, damage, cracks, and grease leaks.


NOTE:

If the ball joint boot is damaged with grease leaks, replace the appropriate part as an assembly.

If the ball joint boot is soft and cracked without grease leaks, replace the appropriate ball joint boot.


1. Front Wheel

Install the front wheel.


NOTE: Before installing the wheel, clean the mating surfaces between the brake disc and the inside of the wheel.
