Rearview camera image does not change

NOTE:

You can select three different rearview camera angles for backing up. If there is no camera image on the display, go to Rearview camera image does not come on or work properly troubleshooting.

Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

Problem verification:


Problem verification

?1.

Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).


?2.

Move the shift lever to R.


?3.

Press the ENTER button to see if the rearview image changes between the wide view, the normal view, and the top down view in this order.


Does the rearview camera image change properly?


YES

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.¦

NO

The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

Shorted wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line, CAMERA BIT1 line):


Shorted wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line, CAMERA BIT1 line)

?1.

Move the shift lever to P or N.


?2.

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).


?3.

Disconnect the following connector.

Audio-navigation unit connector B (20P)

Rearview camera 12P connector


?4.

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition

IG LOCK (0)

Test circuit

CAMERA BIT0

Test point 1

Rearview camera 12P connector No. 5 (GRN)

Test point 2

Body ground


Test circuit

CAMERA BIT1

Test point 1

Rearview camera 12P connector No. 6 (BLU)

Test point 2

Body ground

Is there continuity?


YES

Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the rearview camera and the audio-navigation unit.¦

NO

The CAMERA BIT0 and the CAMERA BIT1 wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 3.

3.

Shorted wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line, CAMERA BIT1 line):


Shorted wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line, CAMERA BIT1 line)

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition

IG LOCK (0)

Test circuit

CAMERA BIT0, CAMERA BIT1

Test point 1

Rearview camera 12P connector No. 5 (GRN)

Test point 2

Rearview camera 12P connector No. 6 (BLU)

Is there continuity?


YES

Repair a short in the wires between the rearview camera and the audio-navigation unit.¦

NO

The CAMERA BIT0 and the CAMERA BIT1 wires are not shorted. Go to step 4.

4.

Open wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line, CAMERA BIT1 line):


Open wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line, CAMERA BIT1 line)

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

IG LOCK (0)

Test circuit

CAMERA BIT0

Test point 1

Audio-navigation unit connector B (20P) No. 4 (GRN)

Test point 2

Rearview camera 12P connector No. 5 (GRN)


Test circuit

CAMERA BIT1

Test point 1

Audio-navigation unit connector B (20P) No. 15 (BLU)

Test point 2

Rearview camera 12P connector No. 6 (BLU)

Is there continuity?


YES

The CAMERA BIT0 and the CAMERA BIT1 wires are OK. Go to step 5.

NO

Repair an open in the wire(s) between the rearview camera and the audio-navigation unit.¦

5.

Audio-navigation unit check:


Audio-navigation unit check

?1.

Substitute a known-good rearview camera, and recheck.


Does the symptom go away?


YES

Replace the original rearview camera.¦

NO

Replace the audio-navigation unit.¦
