Switch operation Nissan Kicks 2026

Nissan Kicks Type A windshield wiper and washer control switch
Type A (if so equipped)

WARNING

During freezing weather conditions, washer fluid sprayed onto the windshield may freeze before it can be cleared away, significantly reducing visibility. Before using the windshield washer system on your Nissan Kicks, warm the windshield using the defroster to help ensure a clear view of the road ahead and reduce the risk of an accident.

Nissan Kicks Type B windshield wiper and washer control switch
Type B (if so equipped)

CAUTION

  • Do not operate the windshield washer continuously for more than 30 seconds at a time. Extended operation may place unnecessary strain on the washer system components.
  • Never activate the washer system when the windshield-washer fluid reservoir is empty. Running the system without fluid may damage the washer pump.
  • Do not pour concentrated windshield-washer fluid directly into the reservoir at full strength. Certain washer fluid concentrates that contain methyl alcohol may permanently discolor or stain exterior components, including the grille, if spilled during filling.
  • Always mix windshield-washer fluid concentrate with water according to the manufacturer's recommendations before adding it to the windshield-washer reservoir.

Do not use the windshield-washer reservoir itself as a mixing container for concentrate and water. Prepare the mixture separately before filling the system.

NOTE:

If windshield wiper movement is blocked by accumulated snow or ice, the Nissan Kicks wiper system may automatically stop operating to protect the wiper motor from damage. If this occurs, switch the wipers OFF and carefully remove any snow, ice, or debris from the blades and surrounding areas. After approximately one minute, turn the system on again and verify normal operation.

The windshield wiper and washer system operates when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

Move the lever downward to select one of the following Nissan Kicks windshield wiper operating modes:

  1. Intermittent (INT) – intermittent wiping operation. The delay interval can be adjusted by turning the control knob toward A for faster wiping intervals or toward B for slower intervals.

In addition, the Nissan Kicks may automatically adjust intermittent wipe timing based on vehicle speed. For example, when driving at higher speeds, the interval between wipes may become shorter to help maintain visibility during changing weather conditions.

  2. Low (LO) – continuous low-speed windshield wiping operation for light to moderate precipitation.
  3. High (HI) – continuous high-speed windshield wiping operation for heavy rain or situations requiring maximum visibility.

Push the lever upward to position 4 to activate the MIST function. This feature performs a single wipe cycle and is useful for removing light moisture, road spray, or dust from the windshield.

Pull the lever toward you to position 5 to activate the windshield washer. Washer fluid will be sprayed onto the windshield, and the wipers will automatically operate several times to help clear the glass effectively.

For optimal performance in your Nissan Kicks, always use a high-quality washer fluid appropriate for seasonal temperatures and replace worn wiper blades regularly. Clean windshield glass and properly maintained wiper blades contribute significantly to safe driving visibility in all weather conditions.

NOTE:

The Wiper with Speed feature and wiper guidance functions may be disabled depending on vehicle configuration, system settings, or regional specifications of the Nissan Kicks.

WARNING

Do not operate the windshield wipers while a wiper arm is lifted away from the windshield. Doing so may damage the wiper arm, wiper blade assembly, windshield surface, or related components of the Nissan Kicks wiper system.

Additional tip: Regular inspection of the Nissan Kicks windshield washer system, fluid level, and wiper blade condition helps ensure reliable visibility and safer driving throughout the year.

Rain-sensing auto wiper system Nissan Kicks P16

Nissan Kicks rain-sensing automatic wiper system control switch

CAUTION

  • Do not touch the rain sensor or the area around it while the wiper switch is in the AUTO position and the ignition switch is ON. The Nissan Kicks wipers may start unexpectedly, which could cause injury or damage the wiper blades or arms.
  • The rain-sensing automatic wipers are designed for use during rainfall. If the switch is left in the AUTO position, the wipers may operate unexpectedly when dirt, fingerprints, oily film, insects, or other residue is present on or near the sensor.

The wipers may also activate if exhaust gas, condensation, or moisture affects the rain sensor area.

  • If the windshield glass has been treated with a water-repellent coating, the rain-sensing auto wipers may operate at a higher speed even when rainfall is light.
  • Always turn off the rain-sensing auto wiper system before entering an automatic car wash.
  • The rain-sensing auto wipers may not operate properly if rain does not strike the sensor area, even when it is raining elsewhere on the windshield.
  • Using Genuine NISSAN wiper blades is recommended to help ensure proper performance of the Nissan Kicks rain-sensing auto wiper system.

The rain-sensing auto wiper system in the Nissan Kicks can automatically activate the windshield wipers and adjust wiping speed according to rainfall intensity and vehicle speed. The system uses a rain sensor located near the upper portion of the windshield to monitor moisture on the glass.

To activate the rain-sensing auto wiper system, move the lever to the AUTO position 1. When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the wiper will make one initial sweep to confirm system operation.

The rain sensor sensitivity can be adjusted by turning the knob toward the rear 2 for Low sensitivity or toward the front 3 for High sensitivity.

  • High - higher sensitivity, allowing the system to react more quickly to moisture on the windshield.
  • Low - lower sensitivity, allowing less frequent automatic wiping in light rain or mist.

To turn the rain-sensing auto wiper system off, move the lever to the OFF position, or select the low or high wiper speed position manually.

The rain-sensing feature may be disabled depending on vehicle equipment, settings, or market specification.

Rear switch operation

Nissan Kicks rear window wiper and washer switch operation

WARNING

In freezing temperatures, washer fluid sprayed onto the rear window may freeze on the glass and reduce rear visibility. Before using the rear washer on your Nissan Kicks in cold weather, warm the rear window with the defroster to help maintain a clear view and reduce the risk of an accident.

CAUTION

  • Do not operate the rear washer continuously for more than 30 seconds.
  • Do not operate the washer if the windshield-washer fluid reservoir is empty. Running the washer without fluid may damage the pump.
  • Do not fill the windshield-washer fluid reservoir with full-strength washer fluid concentrate. Some methyl alcohol based concentrates may permanently stain exterior parts, including the grille, if spilled while filling the reservoir.
  • Pre-mix windshield-washer fluid concentrate with water according to the manufacturer's recommended ratio before pouring it into the windshield-washer fluid reservoir.

Do not use the windshield-washer fluid reservoir itself to mix washer concentrate and water. Prepare the mixture separately before filling the Nissan Kicks washer system.

If rear window wiper movement is blocked by snow, ice, or other buildup, the wiper may stop to protect its motor. If this happens, turn the wiper switch to OFF and remove snow, ice, or debris from around the rear wiper arm and blade. After approximately 1 minute, turn the switch on again to check normal operation.

The Nissan Kicks rear window wiper and washer operate when the ignition switch is in the ON position. Turn the switch clockwise from OFF to select rear wiper operation.

  1. Intermittent (INT) - intermittent rear wiping operation. This interval is not adjustable.
  2. Low (ON) - continuous low-speed rear wiper operation for steady cleaning of the rear window.

Push the switch forward to position 3 to operate the rear washer. Washer fluid will spray onto the rear window, and the rear wiper will operate several times to help clear the glass.

For safer everyday driving in the Nissan Kicks, keep the rear window clean, maintain the washer fluid level, and replace worn wiper blades before they begin streaking or skipping across the glass.
