Brake warning
light (if so
equipped)
This warning light serves multiple functions within the Nissan Kicks braking system and is used to monitor both the parking brake and hydraulic brake system conditions.
Parking brake indicator
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, this light illuminates whenever the parking brake is applied. The indicator reminds the driver that the Nissan Kicks parking brake is engaged and should be released before driving.
Low brake fluid warning light
With the ignition switch in the ON position, this warning light may indicate that the brake fluid level has dropped below the recommended range. If the light illuminates while the engine is running and the parking brake is fully released, stop the Nissan Kicks as soon as it is safe to do so and perform the following checks:
1. Inspect the brake fluid reservoir and verify the fluid level. Add the recommended brake fluid if necessary. For additional information, see "Brake fluid".
2. If the brake fluid level is within the proper range and the warning light remains illuminated, the braking system should be inspected immediately. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for diagnosis and service.
WARNING
- Your Nissan Kicks brake system may not be functioning correctly if this warning light remains
illuminated.
Driving under these conditions can be dangerous. If traffic and road conditions allow, carefully drive to the nearest repair facility for inspection.
If safe operation cannot be guaranteed, arrange to have the vehicle towed. Continuing to drive with a brake system malfunction could result in loss of braking performance.
- Pressing the brake pedal with the engine turned off and/or with a low brake fluid level may increase stopping distance. Greater pedal effort and additional pedal travel may be required to slow or stop the Nissan Kicks.
- If the brake fluid level falls below the MINIMUM or MIN mark on the brake fluid reservoir, do not operate the vehicle until the brake system has been inspected. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.

Engine oil pressure
warning light
This warning light indicates low engine oil pressure. If the light flickers, illuminates, or remains on while driving the Nissan Kicks, safely pull off the road, stop the engine immediately, and contact a NISSAN dealer or another qualified repair facility.
Low engine oil pressure can cause severe engine damage if the vehicle continues to operate. The warning light is designed to alert the driver before major damage occurs, making immediate attention essential whenever the indicator appears.
The engine oil pressure warning light in the Nissan Kicks is not intended to show a low engine oil level. Its purpose is to alert the driver to low oil pressure, which can be more urgent and potentially damaging than a simple low-level condition.
Use the engine oil dipstick to check the actual oil level. If the level is low, add the recommended oil as described in the maintenance section of this Nissan Kicks manual.
CAUTION
Operating the engine while the engine oil pressure warning light is illuminated may cause severe engine damage almost immediately. Damage caused by driving with insufficient oil pressure is not covered by the NISSAN New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Stop the Nissan Kicks and turn off the engine as soon as it is safe to do so.
High temperature warning
light (if so equipped)
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the high temperature warning light illuminates briefly and then turns off. This confirms that the high temperature sensor in the Nissan Kicks engine coolant system is operating normally.
While driving, the high temperature warning light should remain off when the engine coolant temperature is within the normal operating range.
CAUTION
If the high temperature warning light illuminates while the engine is running, the engine temperature may be extremely high. Stop the Nissan Kicks safely as soon as possible. Continuing to drive while the engine is overheated may cause serious engine damage.

chime
The seat belt warning light and chime remind the driver and front passenger to fasten their seat belts. The Nissan Kicks uses this reminder to encourage proper restraint use before and during travel.
Security indicator light
This light blinks when the ignition switch is placed in the OFF or LOCK position.
A blinking security indicator light shows that the security systems equipped on the Nissan Kicks are armed and operating as intended.
Steering Assist Hands Off
warning light (if so
equipped)
When Steering Assist is active, the system monitors the driver's steering wheel input to confirm that the driver remains attentive and ready to control the Nissan Kicks.
If the steering wheel is not operated, or if the driver removes both hands from the steering wheel for a certain period, the warning light illuminates. If the driver still does not operate the steering wheel after the warning appears, an audible alert will sound and the warning will flash in the vehicle information display. The system may then apply a brief braking action to prompt the driver to take control of the vehicle again.
If the driver remains unresponsive, the Nissan Kicks may automatically activate the hazard warning lights and slow the vehicle to a complete stop.
Supplemental air bag
warning light
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the supplemental air bag warning light illuminates for approximately 7 seconds and then turns off. This normal sequence indicates that the Nissan Kicks Supplemental Restraint System has completed its self-check and is operational.
If any of the following conditions occur, the front air bag, side air bag, curtain air bag, knee air bag, and seat belt pretensioner systems require service:
- The supplemental air bag warning light remains illuminated for more than approximately 7 seconds.
- The supplemental air bag warning light flashes intermittently.

If this indicator light illuminates yellow while the Lane Departure Warning system is turned on, it may indicate a system malfunction. Have the Nissan Kicks LDW system inspected. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
Low fuel warning light (if so
equipped)
This warning light illuminates when the fuel level in the Nissan Kicks fuel tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as convenient, preferably before the fuel gauge reaches 0 (Empty). A small reserve amount of fuel may remain when the gauge reaches 0 (Empty), but the vehicle should not be driven with the tank nearly empty.
Driving with very low fuel can lead to unexpected stalling and may affect trip planning, especially in traffic, remote areas, or severe weather. Refueling early helps maintain reliable Nissan Kicks operation and reduces the chance of running out of fuel.
Low tire pressure warning
light
Your Nissan Kicks is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that monitors the air pressure in all tires except the spare tire.
The low tire pressure warning light alerts the driver when one or more tires may be under-inflated. It can also indicate that the TPMS is not operating correctly.
After the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, this warning light illuminates for approximately 1 second and then turns off. This brief illumination confirms that the Nissan Kicks TPMS warning light is completing its normal bulb and system check.
Low tire pressure warning
If the Nissan Kicks is being driven with low tire pressure, the warning light will illuminate.
The "CHECK TIRE PRES" message, on vehicles without a vehicle information display, may also appear in the trip computer. On vehicles with a vehicle information display, the "Tire Pressure Low - Add Air" message appears in the vehicle information display.
When the low tire pressure warning light illuminates, stop the vehicle in a safe location and check the pressure of all four tires. Adjust each tire to the recommended COLD tire pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label located in the driver's door opening of the Nissan Kicks.
The low tire pressure warning light does not turn off immediately just because the tire pressure has been corrected. After the tires are inflated to the recommended pressure, the Nissan Kicks must be driven at speeds above 16 mph (25 km/h) to activate the TPMS and allow the warning light to turn off. Always use an accurate tire pressure gauge to confirm the tire pressure.
For vehicles without a vehicle information display, the low tire pressure warning light remains illuminated until the tires are inflated to the recommended COLD tire pressure. The "CHECK TIRE PRES" warning message is displayed each time the ignition switch is placed in the ON position while the low tire pressure warning light remains illuminated.
For vehicles with a vehicle information display, the "Tire Pressure Low - Add Air" warning appears each time the ignition switch is placed in the ON position as long as the low tire pressure warning light remains illuminated.
TPMS malfunction
If the TPMS is not functioning properly, the low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute after the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. After that, the light will remain illuminated. Have the system inspected. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
The "CHECK TIRE PRES" warning message or "Tire Pressure Low - Add Air" warning will not appear when the low tire pressure warning light is illuminated due to a TPMS malfunction rather than low tire pressure.
WARNING
- Radio waves may adversely affect electric medical equipment. Anyone using a pacemaker should contact the medical equipment manufacturer to confirm possible effects before using or operating near the Nissan Kicks TPMS system.
- If the low tire pressure warning light does not illuminate when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, have the Nissan Kicks inspected as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
- If the warning light illuminates while driving, avoid sudden steering inputs and abrupt braking. Reduce speed, move off the road to a safe location, and stop the Nissan Kicks as soon as possible. Driving with under-inflated tires can permanently damage the tires and increase the risk of tire failure. Serious vehicle damage may occur, which could lead to an accident and result in serious injury or death. Check the pressure of all four tires and adjust them to the recommended COLD tire pressure shown on the Tire and Loading Information label located in the driver's door opening. If the warning light remains illuminated while driving after the tire pressures have been corrected, one tire may be flat or the TPMS may not be functioning properly. If a tire is flat, replace it with the spare tire as soon as possible. If no tire is flat and all tires are correctly inflated, have the vehicle inspected. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
- When using a wheel that is not equipped with a TPMS sensor, such as the spare tire, the TPMS will not function for that wheel. The low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute and then remain illuminated. Have the tire replaced and/or the TPMS reset as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for these services.
- Installing tires that are not originally specified by NISSAN may affect the proper operation of the TPMS in the Nissan Kicks.
Correct tire pressure is important for stable handling, braking performance, tire life, and fuel efficiency. Checking the tires regularly when they are cold helps the TPMS work more accurately and helps keep the Nissan Kicks operating safely.
CAUTION
- The TPMS in the Nissan Kicks is not a replacement for regular tire pressure checks. Tire pressure should still be checked manually at normal intervals with an accurate gauge.
- If the vehicle is driven at speeds below 16 mph (25 km/h), the TPMS may not operate correctly or may not update the warning status as expected.
- Always install tires of the specified size on all four wheels. Incorrect tire sizes may affect TPMS operation, handling, braking, and overall Nissan Kicks driving stability.
Low windshield-washer
fluid warning light (if so
equipped)
This warning light illuminates when the windshield-washer fluid level is low. Add washer fluid as needed to maintain proper windshield cleaning performance. For additional information, see "Windshield-washer fluid". Keeping enough washer fluid in the Nissan Kicks is especially important during rain, winter driving, dusty roads, and highway travel.
Malfunction Indicator Light
(MIL)
If this indicator light comes on steadily or begins blinking while the engine is running, it may indicate a possible malfunction in the emission control system of the Nissan Kicks.
The MIL may also illuminate steadily if the fuel-filler cap is loose, missing, or not tightened correctly, or if the vehicle has run out of fuel. Check that the fuel-filler cap is properly installed and securely closed, and make sure the Nissan Kicks has at least 3 gallons (11.4 liters) of fuel in the tank.
After several normal driving trips, the
light
should turn off if no other emission control system malfunction is detected.
If this indicator light comes on steadily for 20 seconds and then blinks for 10 seconds while the engine is not running, the Nissan Kicks is not ready for an emission control system inspection/maintenance test. For additional information, see "Readiness for Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) test".
