Nissan Kicks front and rear seats safety overview

WARNING

  • Never ride in the Nissan Kicks while a seatback is reclined too far. This seating position can seriously reduce the protection provided by the seat belt. The shoulder belt may not rest correctly against your body, and during a collision you could be thrown into it, which may cause neck injuries or other severe harm.

You may also slide under the lap belt, increasing the risk of serious internal injuries.

  • For the best protection while the Nissan Kicks is moving, keep the seatback in an upright position. Sit fully back in the seat, keep both feet on the floor, and make sure the seat is adjusted correctly before driving or riding as a passenger.
  • After changing the seat position, gently rock the seat forward and backward to confirm that it is securely locked in place.
  • Do not leave children unattended inside the Nissan Kicks. A child may accidentally operate switches, controls, or other vehicle systems, and this could lead to vehicle movement or a serious accident.
  • To help prevent injury or death caused by unintended vehicle operation or by the operation of its systems, never leave children, people who need assistance, or pets alone in your Nissan Kicks. On warm days, the temperature inside a closed vehicle can rise very quickly, creating a serious danger for people and animals.
  • Do not adjust the driver's seat while driving. Your full attention should remain on controlling the Nissan Kicks. A sudden seat movement may affect your driving position and could lead to loss of vehicle control.
  • The seatback should only be reclined as much as needed for comfort.

Seat belts work most effectively when the occupant sits upright and well back in the seat. If the seatback is reclined too far, the chance of sliding under the lap belt and being injured is increased.

CAUTION

When adjusting any seat in the Nissan Kicks, keep hands, feet, clothing, and objects away from moving parts to help prevent injury or damage to the seat mechanism.

Front manual seat adjustment

The front seats in the Nissan Kicks can be adjusted manually to help the driver and passenger find a comfortable and secure seating position.

Before driving, adjust the seat so you can reach the pedals, steering wheel, and controls comfortably while maintaining proper posture. The following steps describe the basic manual seat adjustments used in the Nissan Kicks.

Nissan Kicks manual front seat forward and backward adjustment lever

Forward and backward

Pull up and hold the center of the adjustment bar, then slide the seat forward or rearward until it reaches the desired position. Release the bar and make sure the seat locks firmly before driving the Nissan Kicks.

Reclining

To recline the seatback, lift the lever and lean back carefully until the seatback is in the preferred position. To return the seatback forward, lift the lever and move your body forward. Release the lever to lock the seatback securely in place.

Proper seat adjustment is an important part of safe driving in the Nissan Kicks. A correctly positioned seat helps the seat belt fit better, improves driver control, and supports a more comfortable ride during daily travel.

The reclining function in the Nissan Kicks lets occupants adjust the seatback angle to suit different body sizes, improve comfort, and help the seat belt sit correctly across the shoulder and lap. For safe use, always follow the guidance in "Precautions on seat belt usage". The seatback may also be reclined when the Nissan Kicks is parked so passengers can rest more comfortably, but it should be returned to an upright position before the vehicle is driven.

Nissan Kicks driver seat height adjustment lever

Seat lifter (driver's seat)

Raise or lower the adjusting lever to set the driver's seat height in the Nissan Kicks. Choose a position that gives the driver a clear view of the road, easy access to the pedals, and proper alignment with the steering wheel and seat belt.

Folding rear seat

Nissan Kicks rear row head restraints stored before folding seatbacks

To create a flatter cargo floor in the Nissan Kicks, remove both rear outboard head restraints/headrests A and place them securely on the floor in front of the rear row seats B before lowering the rear seatback. This helps the folded seatback sit properly and makes the cargo area more useful for larger items.

Nissan Kicks rear seatback folding release knob

Pull the knob C to release and fold each rear seatback down. Fold the seatbacks carefully and make sure no seat belt, object, or cargo item is trapped while the Nissan Kicks rear seat is being lowered.

WARNING

  • Never permit anyone to ride in the cargo area or on a rear seatback while it is folded down. These areas are not designed for passengers. Riding there without proper restraints can result in serious injury or death during a collision or sudden stop.
  • Secure all cargo properly with suitable ropes, straps, or cargo restraints to help prevent it from sliding or shifting inside the Nissan Kicks. Do not stack cargo higher than the seatbacks. In a sudden stop or crash, loose objects can move forward and cause personal injury.
  • When returning the rear seatbacks to the upright position, confirm that each seatback is fully locked into its latch. If a seatback is not securely latched, passengers may be injured during hard braking, a sudden maneuver, or an accident.
  • Do not use any seating position if the head restraint/headrest has been removed.

If a head restraint/headrest was removed, reinstall it and adjust it correctly before anyone sits in that position. For additional information, see "Head restraint/headrests". Ignoring this instruction can reduce head restraint effectiveness and may increase the risk of serious injury or death in a collision.

Armrest (if so equipped)

The rear bench seat in the Nissan Kicks may include a fold-down armrest. Pull the armrest down as shown to provide added rear-seat comfort when the center seating position is not being used.
