Nissan Kicks parking on hills wheel positioning guide

WARNING

  • Never stop or park the Nissan Kicks over combustible materials such as dry grass, leaves, paper, cloth, or other flammable debris. Hot exhaust system components may ignite these materials and create a fire hazard.
  • Proper parking procedures require both the parking brake to be fully applied and the transmission to be placed in the P (Park) position. Failure to follow these precautions could allow the vehicle to move unexpectedly or roll away, potentially resulting in an accident. Always confirm that the shift lever is fully engaged in P (Park) and cannot be moved without pressing the brake pedal.
  • Never leave the engine running when the vehicle is unattended.
  • Do not leave children alone inside the vehicle. They may unintentionally operate controls, release the parking brake, shift the transmission, or otherwise cause the vehicle to move, creating a serious safety risk.
  • To help prevent injury or death caused by unintended vehicle operation, never leave children, individuals requiring assistance, or pets unattended inside the Nissan Kicks. Temperatures inside a closed vehicle can rise rapidly, even on moderately warm days, creating dangerous conditions for occupants and animals.

1. Firmly apply the parking brake.

2. Move the shift lever fully into the P (Park) position.

3. When parking the Nissan Kicks on an incline, it is recommended to turn the wheels as illustrated to help prevent the vehicle from rolling into traffic if movement occurs.

  • HEADED DOWNHILL WITH CURB 1: Turn the front wheels toward the curb and carefully move the vehicle forward until the curb-side tire lightly contacts the curb.
  • HEADED UPHILL WITH CURB 2: Turn the front wheels away from the curb and slowly allow the vehicle to roll backward until the curb-side tire lightly touches the curb.
  • HEADED UPHILL OR DOWNHILL, NO CURB 3: Turn the wheels toward the edge of the road. If the vehicle begins to move, it will roll away from the center of the roadway rather than into traffic.

4. Place the ignition switch in the LOCK position.
