The interior lighting system in the Nissan Kicks helps illuminate the cabin when entering, exiting, or locating items inside the vehicle. Depending on equipment, the interior light may be Type A or Type B, and its operation can vary according to the switch position, door status, and ignition switch position.

The interior light Type A, if equipped, uses a three-position switch and can operate regardless of the ignition switch position.

When the switch is placed in the ON position 3, the Nissan Kicks interior lights illuminate regardless of whether the doors are open or closed. The lights will turn off after a period of time unless the ignition switch is placed in the ON position.

When the switch is in position 2, the interior lights remain illuminated for a limited period under certain conditions, including:

The doors are unlocked with the key or the power door lock switch while all doors are closed and the ignition switch is in the OFF position.

  • The driver's door is opened and then closed while the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
  • The ignition switch is placed in the OFF position while all doors are closed.

While the timer is active, the light will turn off when:

  • The driver's door is locked with the key or by using the power door lock switch.
  • The ignition switch is placed in the ON position.

When the switch is in the OFF position 1, the interior lights do not illuminate, regardless of door position.

To help protect the battery, the lights will turn off automatically after a period of time if the doors are left open.

The interior light Type B, if equipped, turns on automatically and remains illuminated for a limited time when:

  • The doors are unlocked with the key or the power door lock switch while all doors are closed and the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position.
  • The driver's door is opened and then closed while the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position.
  • The ignition switch is placed in the OFF position while all doors are closed.

When the ON switch 1 is pushed, the Nissan Kicks interior lights illuminate.

When the DOOR/OFF switch 2 is pushed, the interior lights will not illuminate automatically unless an individual light is manually pressed.

CAUTION

Do not use the interior lights for an extended period while the engine is stopped. Doing so may discharge the vehicle battery and may prevent the Nissan Kicks from starting.

Map lights

Nissan Kicks map light switch operation

The map lights provide focused illumination for the front seating area, making them useful for reading, locating small items, or checking controls while parked.

To turn the map lights on, push the switch to position 1. To turn them off, push the switch to position 2.

CAUTION

Do not leave the map lights on for a long time while the engine is not running. Extended use can drain the battery.

Personal Light (if so equipped)

Center personal light

The personal light, if equipped, gives rear or center cabin passengers additional localized lighting without turning on every light in the vehicle.

To turn on the personal light, push and release switch 1.

To turn off the personal light, push and release switch 1 again.

CAUTION

Do not use the personal light for extended periods with the engine stopped. This could cause the Nissan Kicks battery to become discharged.

Luggage compartment light

The luggage compartment light illuminates when the rear hatch is opened, helping you see items in the cargo area at night or in low-light conditions. When the rear hatch is closed, the light turns off.

Practical lighting tip: Before leaving the Nissan Kicks parked, check that all doors and the rear hatch are fully closed so the interior lights do not remain on and drain the battery.
