Nissan Kicks hood release handle, safety lever and support rod

1. Pull the hood lock release handle A located below the driver-side instrument panel. The hood of the Nissan Kicks will release and rise slightly.

2. At the front edge of the hood, move lever B to the side with your fingertips as shown, then raise the hood C carefully.

3. Remove the support rod and insert it securely into slot D to hold the hood open.

4. Before closing the hood, return the support rod to its original storage position.

5. To close the hood properly, lower it slowly, then release it from a height of approximately 8 to 12 in (20 to 30 cm). This allows the hood latch to engage securely without forcing the panel down by hand.

WARNING

  • Make sure the hood is fully closed and securely latched before driving the Nissan Kicks.

If the hood is not latched correctly, it could open while driving and cause an accident.

  • If steam, smoke, or unusual heat is coming from the engine compartment, do not open the hood. Wait until it is safe to inspect the vehicle to help avoid burns or other injuries.
