WARNING
Head restraints and headrests in the Nissan Kicks are designed to work together with the seat belts, air bags, and other occupant protection systems. When properly adjusted, they can provide additional protection against neck injuries in certain rear-end impacts and help reduce the risk of whiplash-related trauma.
Adjustable head restraints/headrests must always be positioned correctly as described in this section. Recheck the adjustment whenever another person has used the seat. Never attach accessories, hooks, or other objects to the head restraint/headrest posts, and never operate the Nissan Kicks with a removed head restraint/headrest. If it has been removed for any reason, reinstall it and adjust it properly before the seating position is occupied. Failure to follow these precautions may reduce the effectiveness of the Nissan Kicks occupant protection system and increase the risk of serious injury or death during a collision.

- Your Nissan Kicks may be equipped with integrated, adjustable, or non-adjustable head restraints/headrests depending on seating position and trim level.
- Adjustable head restraints/headrests feature multiple locking notches along the stalks, allowing them to be positioned at different heights for improved occupant protection and comfort.
- Non-adjustable head restraints/headrests use a single locking notch to secure the assembly to the seat structure.
- Proper Adjustment:
- For adjustable versions, position the head restraint/headrest so that the center of the restraint is approximately level with the center of your ears.
- If your ears remain above the recommended alignment point, raise the head restraint/headrest to its highest available position.
- If a head restraint/headrest has been removed from the Nissan Kicks, make sure it is fully reinstalled and securely locked before anyone occupies that seating position.
Correct head restraint adjustment is an important part of overall passenger safety and should be checked regularly, especially after seat adjustments or vehicle cleaning.

Remove
CAUTION
Do not remove a head restraint/headrest from a Nissan Kicks equipped with a Bose head restraint/headrest speaker system.
Removing the assembly may damage internal wiring, connectors, or speaker components and could result in costly repairs.
Use the following procedure to remove the head restraint/headrest:
1. Pull the head restraint/headrest upward until it reaches its highest position.
2. Press and hold the lock knob.
3. Carefully lift the head restraint/headrest out of the seat.
4. Store the removed head restraint/headrest in a safe and secure location where it cannot move freely inside the Nissan Kicks.
5. Before the seating position is used again, reinstall the head restraint/headrest and adjust it properly.
Install
1. Align the head restraint/headrest stalks with the openings in the seat. Verify that the head restraint/headrest is facing the correct direction. The stalk with the notch (or notches) 1 must be inserted into the opening containing the lock knob 2.
2. Press and hold the lock knob while pushing the head restraint/headrest downward into position.
3. Adjust the head restraint/headrest correctly before anyone occupies the seat.
After installation, gently pull upward on the head restraint/headrest to verify that it is securely locked into the Nissan Kicks seat structure.
Adjust
For adjustable head restraint/headrest
Adjust the head restraint/headrest so that its center aligns approximately with the center of your ears. This position provides the best balance of comfort and protection.
If your ear position remains above the recommended alignment point, raise the head restraint/headrest to the highest available setting.
For non-adjustable head restraint/headrest
Ensure that the head restraint/headrest is fully seated and that the lock knob is properly engaged in the locking notch before occupying the seat.
Raise
To raise the head restraint/headrest, simply pull it upward until the desired height is reached.
Before driving the Nissan Kicks, confirm that the locking mechanism has engaged correctly and that the restraint remains securely positioned.
Lower
To lower the head restraint/headrest, press and hold the lock knob while pushing the restraint downward to the desired position.
After adjustment, make sure the lock knob is engaged in the selected notch and that the head restraint/headrest is secure before anyone rides in that seating position. Properly adjusted head restraints in the Nissan Kicks contribute significantly to occupant comfort and safety during everyday driving and emergency situations.
