Opening the fuel-filler door

Nissan Kicks fuel-filler door opening location

The fuel-filler door on the Nissan Kicks unlocks automatically when the driver's door is unlocked. This design links fuel access with the vehicle locking system, helping keep the fuel-filler door secured when the vehicle is locked.

1. Unlock the fuel-filler door using one of the following methods:

  • Unlock the driver's door with the Intelligent Key.
  • Move the power door lock switch to the unlock position.
  • Press the driver's or front passenger's door handle request switch, if equipped, while carrying the Intelligent Key.

2. To open the fuel-filler door, press the left side of the fuel-filler door until it releases.

To lock the fuel-filler door, close it securely and then lock the Nissan Kicks doors.

WARNING

  • Gasoline is extremely flammable and can be highly explosive under certain conditions.

Improper handling of fuel can cause burns, serious injury, or fire.

Always stop the engine before refueling, and never smoke or allow open flames, sparks, or hot materials near the Nissan Kicks during refueling.

  • Do not continue filling the fuel tank after the fuel pump nozzle automatically shuts off. Attempting to top off the tank may cause fuel overflow, spray, vapor release, or fire.
  • Never pour fuel into the throttle body in an attempt to start the vehicle.
  • Do not fill a portable fuel container inside the vehicle or on a trailer. Static electricity may ignite flammable liquid, vapor, or gas. To reduce the risk of serious injury or death when filling portable fuel containers:
    • Always place the container on the ground before filling.
    • Do not use electronic devices while filling.
    • Keep the pump nozzle in contact with the container during filling.
    • Use only approved portable fuel containers designed for flammable liquids.

CAUTION

  • Do not use E-15 or E-85 fuel in the Nissan Kicks.
  • If fuel is spilled on the vehicle body, rinse it away with water as soon as possible to help prevent paint damage.

How to refuel

Nissan Kicks fuel pump nozzle inserted into capless filler opening

The Nissan Kicks fuel tank uses a capless fuel-filler design. After opening the fuel-filler door, insert the fuel pump nozzle directly into the fuel-filler opening. When the nozzle is removed, the filler opening seals automatically.

To refuel, insert the fuel pump nozzle slowly and fully into the fuel-filler opening before starting fuel flow.

Never move the nozzle during refueling.

After the fuel pump nozzle shuts off automatically for the first time, wait approximately 5 seconds before removing the nozzle from the fuel-filler opening.

Close the fuel-filler door securely after refueling.

If fuel must be added from a portable fuel container, use the funnel supplied with the Nissan Kicks.

CAUTION

  • Do not attempt to open the flaps inside the fuel-filler opening with any tool other than a standard fuel pump nozzle.
  • The fuel-filler opening is designed for normal fuel pump nozzles used at service stations. Using a small-diameter nozzle may damage the filler opening and fuel system.
  • If fuel contacts the vehicle body, flush the area with water promptly to help protect the paint finish.

WARNING

  • Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive under certain conditions.

If fuel is mishandled, you could be burned or seriously injured.

Always turn off the engine and keep cigarettes, open flames, sparks, and ignition sources away from the Nissan Kicks while refueling.

  • Do not top off the fuel tank after the pump nozzle shuts off automatically. Continued refueling may cause overflow, fuel spray, and a possible fire hazard.
  • Never pour fuel into the throttle body to try to start the vehicle.
  • Do not fill a portable fuel container inside the Nissan Kicks or inside a trailer. Static electricity can ignite flammable fuel vapors. To reduce the risk of serious injury or death:
    • Place the container on the ground before filling.
    • Do not use phones or other electronic devices while filling.
    • Keep the pump nozzle touching the container during filling.
    • Use only approved portable containers intended for flammable liquids.

When refueling from a portable fuel container

Nissan Kicks fuel funnel for portable fuel container refueling

If you need to refuel the Nissan Kicks from a portable fuel container, use funnel A stored in the tool bag under the luggage board.

Insert the funnel slowly and fully into the fuel-filler opening. Then insert the nozzle of the portable fuel container through the funnel and carefully fill the fuel tank.

After refueling, remove the funnel from the fuel-filler opening, wipe it clean, and return it to the tool bag so it is available when needed.

CAUTION

  • Do not insert the nozzle of a portable fuel container directly into the fuel-filler opening. Doing so may damage the opening and the Nissan Kicks fuel system.
  • Use only the funnel supplied with the vehicle. Using another funnel or tool may damage the capless filler mechanism or fuel system components.

When refueling, keep the fuel pump nozzle steady, avoid overfilling, and close the fuel-filler door firmly before driving the Nissan Kicks away from the service station.
