WARNING
- Operating the engine without the air cleaner filter installed can create a fire hazard and may expose you or others to injury. The air cleaner not only filters incoming air but also helps contain flames in the event of an engine backfire. Never drive the Nissan Kicks with the air cleaner removed, and exercise caution whenever servicing this area.
- Never pour fuel into the throttle body or attempt to start the engine with the air cleaner assembly removed. Doing so may result in serious personal injury or vehicle damage.
To remove the air cleaner element, release retaining clips A and then disengage the holders located at the rear of the assembly. Carefully lift the housing upward to access the filter element.
The dry paper air filter element can be cleaned under certain conditions and reused if it remains in good condition. However, replacement should always be carried out according to the maintenance schedule specified for the Nissan Kicks.
Whenever the filter is removed, wipe the inside of the air cleaner housing and cover with a clean damp cloth to remove accumulated dust and debris before reassembly.
NOTE:
After installing a replacement air cleaner filter, verify that the cover is seated correctly within the housing and securely fasten clips A to prevent unfiltered air from entering the engine.
In-Cabin Microfilter
Your Nissan Kicks may be equipped with an in-cabin microfilter designed to capture dust, pollen, airborne particles, and certain outside odors before they enter the passenger compartment.
The in-cabin microfilter is located behind the instrument panel and should be replaced at the intervals specified in the "Maintenance and Schedules" section of this manual to maintain optimum HVAC performance.
If replacement becomes necessary, it is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for professional service.
The microfilter should be replaced whenever airflow from the ventilation system becomes noticeably reduced or when the windows begin to fog more easily while operating the heater or air conditioner.
