Power windows

The Nissan Kicks power window system is designed for convenient control of the front and rear side windows from the driver’s switch panel, while also allowing individual operation from passenger positions. Use the system carefully and always confirm that all occupants are clear of the window openings before closing any glass.

WARNING

  • Make sure all passengers keep their hands, arms, fingers, and other body parts inside the vehicle while the Nissan Kicks is moving and before any window is closed. Use the window lock button when needed to prevent passengers, especially children, from operating the power windows unexpectedly.
  • To help reduce the risk of injury or death caused by unintended vehicle operation, window entrapment, or accidental door lock activation, never leave children, people who require assistance, or pets unattended inside the Nissan Kicks. On warm days, the temperature inside a closed vehicle can rise quickly and may create a serious or fatal risk for people and animals.

The power windows operate when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. They may also continue to operate for a limited period after the ignition switch is moved to the OFF position. If the driver's door or front passenger's door is opened during this retained power period, power window operation is canceled.

Driver's side power window switch

The driver's side switch panel in the Nissan Kicks allows the driver to open and close all side windows from one convenient location.

To open a window, push the appropriate switch down to the detent and hold it until the glass reaches the desired position. To close a window, pull the switch up to the detent and continue holding it until the window reaches the desired position.

Front passenger's power window switch

The front passenger's power window switch operates only the corresponding front passenger window.

To open the window partially, lightly push the switch down 1 and hold it until the desired position is reached. To close the window partially, pull the switch up 2 and hold it until the window reaches the desired position.

Nissan Kicks rear passenger power window switch

Rear power window switch

Each rear power window switch in the Nissan Kicks controls only the window next to that seating position. To open the window, push and hold the switch down 1. To close the window, pull and hold the switch up 2.

Locking passengers' windows

When the window lock button is pressed, passenger window operation is disabled and only the driver's window can be opened or closed from the driver's controls. Press the window lock button again to cancel the lock function and restore passenger window operation.

This feature is especially useful when children are riding in the Nissan Kicks, because it helps prevent accidental or repeated window operation from the rear seats.

Nissan Kicks automatic power window switch operation

Automatic operation

To fully open a window equipped with automatic operation, push the window switch down to the second detent and release it. The switch does not need to be held; the window will automatically open completely. To stop the window while it is opening, lift the switch upward.

If equipped, a window with automatic closing operation can be fully closed by pulling the switch up to the second detent and releasing it. The switch does not need to be held. To stop the window while it is closing, push the switch down.

Auto-reverse function

The auto-reverse function may activate when a window is being closed by automatic operation. This function is designed to help reduce the chance of entrapment by lowering the window if an obstruction is detected during closing.

Depending on the environment or driving conditions, the auto-reverse function may activate if the window experiences an impact, resistance, vibration, or load similar to something being caught in the glass.

WARNING

There are small areas immediately before the fully closed position where detection may not occur. Before closing any Nissan Kicks window, make sure all passengers have their hands, arms, and other body parts safely inside the vehicle.

If the vehicle battery is disconnected, replaced, or the Nissan Kicks is jump started, the power window auto-reverse function may not operate correctly until the system is re-initialized. It is recommended that this service be performed by a NISSAN dealer.

If the control unit detects that something is caught in a window equipped with automatic operation while the window is closing, the window will immediately lower.

When power window switch does not operate

If the power window automatic function, especially automatic closing, does not operate properly, use the following procedure to initialize the power window system:

1. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.

2. Open the window more than halfway using the power window switch.

3. Pull the power window switch upward and hold it to close the window completely. After the window is fully closed, continue holding the switch for more than 3 seconds.

4. Release the power window switch. Operate the window using the automatic function to confirm that initialization is complete. Depending on the selected automatic function, the window should automatically open or close.

5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for the other Nissan Kicks windows, if necessary.

If the power window system still does not operate correctly after this procedure, have the system inspected and repaired. It is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for diagnosis and service.

Practical safety tip: Before leaving the Nissan Kicks parked, make sure all windows are fully closed and that no passengers, pets, or valuables are left inside the vehicle.
